Vox Roots
Vox Urbane's mission to tackle the stark lack of diversity in choral music begins with Vox Roots. We have a mission to foster a new wave of talent, seeking out and nurturing outstanding singers of diversity for the future. This begins by engendering a passion for singing in children of all ages, through school workshops and integrated performances with Vox Urbane.
In its first academic year, the Vox Roots programme has worked with five schools in London, and a total of 170 children. We have given 27 workshops, and 10 concerts in venues including St John at Hackney, St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham and the London office of a global bank located in Canary Wharf.
Additionally, a new carol was written by our Musical Director, Dan Ludford-Thomas for the newly formed children's choir at St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham together with Vox Next Gen's young artists. An excerpt from the world premiere given on 10th December 2023 in Faversham can be seen and heard here.
